The geothermal sites in Iceland are incredible. Vents in the earth's surface and built-up pressure create eruptions of water and vapor, sometimes at 100-degree temperatures! The geothermal site at Namafjall has a rich earthy colour palette and the sounds of the water exploding and bubbling from the earth mixed with the smell of sulfur is a sensory overload! This painting was created with acrylic paint to get a watery effect. I used texture paste and scratches to make a rough and rugged surface of the canvas.
